IRIDESCENT UNIQUE NECKLACE
The pāua is found nowhere in the world but the cold coastal waters of New Zealand, where it is so closely protected that it may only be collected by hand, by free-diving, and never with machinery or breathing equipment. Few shells anywhere carry the range of iridescent color that pāua does, and all of it is natural. The pāua in each seashell necklace were hand-chosen between 15 and 20 years ago for their shape and color, either by beach-combing or as a by-product of a carefully managed seafood harvest. From that point on, we do as little as possible: none of our shells are dyed, color-enhanced, laminated, veneered, or coated in resin. Each one keeps the shape it grew into and the iridescence it carried out of the sea, which is why no two pieces are ever the same.
This handmade necklace is crafted with .925 sterling silver. Because each pāua shell is unique, the chain you receive will be assorted, with its thickness thoughtfully selected to complement the individual shape and character of your shell.
